Wednesday Pre-Tournament Prep Practice Speeches: IF you are a 2A, you MUST prepare a 2ac against the "1nc practice" attached above. The 2ac should follow this format: --Answer case first. You will operate off of 1nc number. For example, if the first argument on human rights is, "Too fast causes instability," the 2ac will respond by saying, "off of number 1nc number 1, lifting the embargo quickly won't cause instability..." [or something of that form] --Answer the disads and counterplans second in what ever order you like.
On the counterplan, make 4+ arguments. You must come up with reasons why the counterplan doesn't solve BOTH advantages. You should also include other arguments. These arguments should be NUMBERED. The block will work off of the structure you create against offcase positions. On both disads, you need to make 8+ arguments. Some can be analytics and others can be cards. Remember there are cards in the negative files to answer these arguments. You should have different levels of defense and offense. Look back at my affirmative lecture powerpoint [which is attached above]. I outline 3 strategies against a disad you can employ there. [Note, we do not have impact turns against either disad. Therefore, option 3 will not be possible in this drill].
You will have 8 minutes for this speech (just like a regular 2ac).
IF you are a 2N, you must prepare a 2nc extension of 1 disad you really like. This could be an extension of the immigration politics disad, the agriculture disad, or the cuban democracy disad. The extension of the disad should begin with an impact overview. Then, you will proceed to extend the disad based off of the 2AC numbered order.
Cuban democracy disad--> There is already a 2ac prepared that you will respond to. It is "2ac demo debate." Politics disad-->I will be putting together a 2ac shortly.
